KitKat vs…

…RAMUNE Yeah, that soda in that wonderful glass bottle with that marble in it!!! This one tastes a bit odd… I mean I think it’s difficult (almost impossible) to make ramune and chocolate taste good. But I must say, they made a good effort. Just like the Lemon Vinegar one, the Ramune KitKat bar had a strong ramune smell to it. I believe they used white chocolate for the inside. Honestly, I can’t describe it better t...

Snack Review – Tokyo Sweets Akiba de éclair cakes

Snack Review – Tokyo Sweets Akiba de éclair cakes

These little cake things look like they’re wrapped up in wrapping paper, as if they are a gift for someone. On the front of the package is a picture of an Akiba girl…. After opening the package, there’s a tray of 12 of these little cakes, not individually wrapped (surprising, huh?). They look pretty tasty. Not surprisingly, things are very light, fluffy cakes…not too sweet, but sweet enough to taste alright. There’s some k...

Snack Review: Meiji Tiramisu chocolate candies

Snack Review: Meiji Tiramisu chocolate candies

Next up for review are these little Tiramisu candy snack things from Meiji. These look like they’re going to be pretty delicious. For some reason they are mushroom-shaped, with some type of cookie-like stem. Each one is individually wrapped, of course, and the box has a little excited cartoon character on it yelling something and looking very happy. I assume he’s happy about these little candies. so small yet so good As for the candy it...

Anyone Prefer Rice Over Bread?

Anyone Prefer Rice Over Bread?

Ever wish hamburger buns were made out of rice? Ever dream of replacing that boring meat patty with something more exciting? Well, Marked5‘s your place… Maybe? A friend told me about them. They’re a nomadic restaurant. They’ve got a truck that goes around LA selling burgers with buns made out of rice. They have a burger with tonkatsu, chicken currry, tofu patty, and beef patty. And they also have Calpico and Pocky. Which r...

KitKat vs…

KitKat vs…

…LEMON VINEGAR. No joke. It looks like a perfectly normal KitKat when opened. It’s actually not as bad or weird as it sounds, which was pretty disappointing. When I opened it, there was a lemony smell, and when I took a bite out of it, it tasted like a regular KitKat except it wasn’t as sweet. Personally, I don’t like KitKat bars too much because they’re too sweet, but this, I can definitely keep snacking on. a...

Snack Review: Neru-neru Neru-ne (Green)

Snack Review: Neru-neru Neru-ne (Green)

Judging by the characters on this bag, this candy should be…interesting. There’s a yellow ball-shaped thing with a green hat reading a book, while stirring greenish paste on the little tray. There’s another ball-shaped thing to his right that looks concerned. I really have no idea what this is supposed to be an image of, unless the little green ball is trying to tell the yellow ball what to do. The green ball looks the same as the gr...

Want to learn Japanese through Manga??

See that yellow sign in the background of that picture? I saw it on my morning drive today, and it sounds interesting…apparently you can enroll your child (13-17 year old) into this program at OSULA (Osaka Sangyo University Los Angeles) that teaches the language through the use of manga and anime. From the site: We are excited to announce that we start offering this unique MANGA de NIHONGO course from this fall. MANGA (Japanese comic) and ...

Snack Review: Moemoe Pink Candies

Snack Review: Moemoe Pink Candies

These little candies are delicious. They were picked up for me at Akihabara in Japan. The package is lightweight and pink, with a sticker of an Akiba girl in a maid uniform inside the bag which acts as the main logo for the candies. that's a lot of pink Inside the bag are individually-wrapped candies. So far, every snack food I’ve reviewed on this site has individually-wrapped items inside the packaging; I guess this is the norm for Ja...
