ytv animation Premieres Blue Miburo at Anime Expo

Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation today announced that the first episode of the Maho Film produced “Blue Miburo” anime will premiere at their Anime Expo 2024 panel. Blue Miburo anime adapts Tsuyoshi Yasuda’s historic manga of the same name, offering a refreshing take on Japan’s iconic Shinsengumi. Leading the panel will be Director Kumiko Habara and Producer Hiroya Nakata, who will provide insight into the manga-to-anime adaptation process, the period of Japanese history this work draws from, and Blue Miburo’s distinct audio direction. Fans attending the panel will also be treated to themed merchandise, including fans with the Blue Miburo logo, and a chance to enter a lottery to win one of four posters signed by Director Habara.

Director Kumiko Habara:

Kumiko Habara is an animation director, who’s also worked in the industry as an animator. Her directorial debut was I’m Standing on a Million Lives, and her body of work also includes I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss, and Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady With the Lamp.

Animation Producer Hiroya Nakata:

An established animation producer whose body of work includes Firefighter Daigo: Rescuer in Orange, Love All Play, My Hero Academia, Case Closed: Zero’s Tea Time, and Case Closed: The Culprit Hanzawa.

STORY:

It’s 1863, the twilight of the shogunate, and Japan is on the cusp of monumental change. The streets of the nation’s capital are soaked in blood as political upheaval and rising tensions between masterless, wandering ronin and government samurai set the stage for one of the most turbulent times in Japan’s history. Young orphan Nio is no stranger to the harsh realities of the world, and yet he can’t help but cling to his burning passion for justice and desire to change the world for the better.

One day, he crosses paths with two men who will become central figures of the coming revolution: Hijikata Toshizo and Okita Souji, two of the founding members of a group of hated ronin known as the Miburo—who would later become known as the Shinsengumi. Inspired by the efforts of the so-called “Blue Miburo,” Nio decides to join the ranks to help carve a path to the world he wishes to see. But with new betrayals and reversals every day, will Nio be able to stay true to his conscience?
