There are some exciting events coming to LA in the next week, marking the return of 6%dokidoki founder and designer Sebastian Masuda to Southern California! On Saturday, April 16th events begin with the “Mighty Harajuku Fashion Walk” at Mann”s Chinese Theater in Hollywood, followed by the “To Japan: from LA with Love” fundraiser at Space15Twenty.  The next day, events continue at Space15Twenty for  “6%DOKIDOKI Fan Day”.

“MIGHTY HARAJUKU Project” is an initiative from Sebastian Masuda to help revitalize Harajuku, and restore hope following the Great Tohoku Earthquake. Mr. Masuda wanted to find a way to reinforce the neighborhood as a place of safety, fun, and creative expression for the youth of Tokyo, especially given the pressure and uncertainty following the disasters in Japan.

TokyoFashion.com, which also calls Harajuku home, has an excellent post detailing the creation of MIGHTY HARAJUKU Project, and more on Mr. Masuda”s thoughts and concerns following the earthquake, and how he is using his initiative to bring together the neighborhood.

Tune in Tokyo will also be supporting Mr. Masuda”s efforts with our own fashion snap on Wednesday, April 20th, at our next event, “POP PUNK / POP IDOL”.  We”ll be taking fashion snaps at our [HRJK]! Booth, so be sure to get your photo taken and send your encouragement to the fashion capital of Japan!

Join the Tune in Tokyo as we celebrate 30 years of idol pop and Japanese street fashion! The Tune in Tokyo DJs will be spinning a mix of modern and vintage Japanese and global idol pop, and will be joined by guests Stephanie Yanez and Po Lo, for a special live performance!

“Pop-Punk/Pop Idol” is a celebration of Harajuku and Shibuya fashion from the Takenoku-zoku style of the early 80s through modern Decora, Lolita, and Gyaru-Kei! To get everyone in the mood, we”ll be mixing in some online casino of our favorite Japanese artists from the last 30 years!

Pop idol-inspired and Japanese street fashion is encouraged. We”ll be offering special prizes for best “retro” street fashion, best use of theme (“Pop Punk”), and a pop idol night wouldn”t be complete without K-Pop, so we”re also going to be offering a prize for “Best K-Pop Cosplay”! Be sure to look fierce, and be creative!

Our event is sponsored by Q-Pop shop, and Camdenlock clothing, who will be providing some amazing prizes and giveaways!

Admission is $10, all ages admitted. The event runs from 8 PM – 12 AM. The cafe will also be open, offering a special event menu.

Look forward to seeing everyone there!
