New 2016 Spring anime came out in April and they just passed about 1/3 of all episodes (or 1/6 if it’s for 2 seasons). Here I would like to review anime that I have been watching from this season with 5-star rating.
*This review is based on my personal opinions and I do not watch all the anime from every season so please understand.
Kiznaiver
★★☆☆☆
Plot: A high school student, Katsuhira Agata who lives in Sugimori City, is a boy who can’t feel any pain somehow. A few days before summer vacation, he meets a mysterious girl named Noriko Sonozaki and she kidnapped him along with some of his classmates. When they all woke up, she declares that “Starting today, you all are….. Kiznaivers!”
Review: I was personally excited for this original anime because it was written by my favorite screenwriter, Mari Okada (She’s also in charge of “Lost Village” this season but I can’t watch scary anime lol). It’s produced by Trigger and you will see their artistic aspects from their key visual, OP and of course the story itself. I love the concept, “Kizuna System” that main characters are all bonded through pain and if any misfortune happens to one of them, others also feel the pain. However, I feel like this show is pretty much it. Each characters are extremely unique and that’s what makes this show more interesting. I believe it’s still worth following this show and so will I but so far it’s not like “OMG THIS IS SO GOOD” anime yet.
Macross Δ (Delta)
★★★★★
Plot: Macross Delta is set in the year 2067, 8 years after the events of the latest Macross TV series, Macross Frontier. The story focuses on Walküre, a team of talented idols and the Delta Squadron, a team of experienced Valkyrie pilots as they battle against the Var Syndrome, a mysterious phenomena that is consuming the galaxy and there is also the mysterious Aerial Knights Valkyrie fighter team of the Kingdom of Wind. Review: I probably gave 5 stars only for this show from this season. I do admit that I’m a huge fan of Macross Frontier but I am not crazy for all Macross series so being a Macross Frontier fan won’t deter me from reviewing Delta properly. First of all, if you have never seen any Macross series, you probably might get confused or shocked at their fighting scenes. Macross is all about mecha, songs and love triangle so when they fight, you usually see idols or bands playing songs at concerts or battlefields, which might be very odd to some people. However if you have seen any Macross series, when they start fighting/singing, you would feel “Macross” so much and that fact is enough to get you excited. The graphics are movie quality and amazing without any complains. I wonder how much budget, time and effort that the team has been putting for every 30-minute episode. Story development is well made and each character is really appealing. To be honest, I wasn’t excited when I first saw Delta’s character designs but now I know the story, I love all characters and I really cannot wait for more! Lastly but not least, All of Macross Delta’s songs are SUPER AWESOME.
Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-
★★★★☆
Plots: A shut-in high school student, Subaru Natsuki was summoned to another world on the way back from convenience store in Japan. Without any knowledge or money in this world, he was attacked by a gang and saved by a silver-haired girl. To return his favor, he tries to help her gain back her stolen insignia…
Review: This show betrayed my expectations in a fantastic way! I thought this anime would be another typical light novel based chunibyo anime but it seems like there’s more than that. Surprisingly this anime was a time-leaping action fantasy which is like “Erased Meets Konosuba.” It also reminds me of Steins; Gate in terms of a main character having to see his friends being killed so many times and going back to the moment when he enters this world every time he dies. The action scene is really intense and it might be too violent for some people like me. The animation is beautiful so it goes really well with the intense action scene. The first episode is one hour long however it’s split into two parts on Crunchyroll so you can enjoy it even when you’re busy. I was personally amazed by Elsa’s voice actor, Mamiko Noto. She often plays a quiet girly A-student character but contrary to her stereotypical image, her voice suits this perfect villain perfectly fine. If you’re interested, you should check out the OP. This OP tells you what kind of anime it is.
Bakuon!!
★★★☆☆
Plot: Hane Sakura is a high school student who looks a little bit like an airhead. On the way to her all-female high school one day, she is worn-out climbing a hilly road with a bicycle, but she sees a girl named Onsa Amano who is riding a motorcycle. Sakura immediately becomes interested in motorcycles, and she and Onsa join the motorcycle club at the school. Then, Sakura sets out to get her license. (Source: Anime News Network)
Review: Yes, this is another 4 hiragana title moe anime. Although it seems like a typical cute high school girls getting fully into their school club activity, they don’t belong to light music club or go to an agricultural school in countryside. This time these girls belong to a motorcycle club! I love the contrast between cute high school girls and manly motorcycles and that is what makes this show more unique. I have no knowledge about motorcycles but even a beginner like me can tell that they put lots of effort on the motorcycles’ realistic details and it can be actually educational. They do have some “sexy” moments but not super obvious, so if you want to watch this show for that kind of reason, you should go watch “Hundred” or “Cerberus” instead. Lastly this might be only me but when Rin is sitting in a school uniform, she looks like Usagi Tsukino. Maybe due to her blonde twintail and sailor uniform though… haha
Part.2 and Part.3 will be uploaded soon! Stay tuned! <3
