[ANIME REVIEW] 2016 SPRING ANIME REVIEWS PART. 1
*This review is based on my personal opinions and I do not watch all the anime from every season so please understand.
Bungo Stray Dogs
★★★☆☆
Plot: Atsushi Nakajima, an orphan who was expelled from an asylum, saves Osamu Dazai from his wish of suicide. Osamu and his friend, Doppo Kunikida tell Atsushi that they’re in “Arms Detective Company,” a league of literary figures that possess special powers. They drag Atsushi to go find a tiger which has been running wild in the city.
Review: This anime was the most expected show especially for female fans. The original light novel sold over 1.2 million copies and the story is a supernatural action story that many people would appreciate. However once the anime started, in despite of the high advance expectation, this anime didn’t really get great reviews. Each character’s name is based on the actual Japanese literacy authors in the early 1900s and their special power is from author’s famous book titles. I thought this concept is interesting however it seems like that’s what most people don’t like about. I am personally familiar with these classic authors and books since I am Japanese but I’m not a crazy Japan’s classic literacy nerd and maybe this is why I can purely enjoy this show. To be honest, you might enjoy this show even more if you’re not too familiar with the actual authors because if you are, you might get disappointed with the characters. Also, if you’re sensitive to “suicide,” please avoid this show. One of the main characters, Osamu Dazai is obsessed with suicide and him attempting to commit a suicide in many ways is one of their jokes. I’m not a fujoshi, but this show can be enjoyed with a broad audience with their cool actions scenes, humor, and unique characters.
Anne Happy♪ / Unhappy Go Lucky!
★★★★☆
Plot: Tennogofune Academy’s is a home for students with “negative karma,” otherwise known as misfortune. The school’s class 1-7 has collected students burdened with negative karma. Hibari finds her first day of school ends in bad luck. Hanako noticeably suffers from poor health. Together, the two unlucky high school students might find their school life will become a “blessing.” (Source: Anime News Network )
Review: If you simply enjoy cute girls, this is the perfect show for you. All girl characters are absolutely adorable and just by watching them gives you pure happiness. What makes them so cute is their positive attitude even though they’re somehow extremely unlucky in one field. Some girls have misfortune with health, romance, cats, and direction and main character, Anne has absolutely terrible luck for everything. However, these girls always find happiness out of their misfortune and some of them don’t even realize that they’re unlucky. Their OP is really cute as well.
Netoge no Yome wa Onna no ko ja Nai to Omotta? / And You Thought There Is Never a Girl Online?
★★★☆☆
Plot: Hideki Nishimura confessed to a person he thought was a girl online, only for that person to turn out to be a boy. He keeps this “black history” secret and swears to never to trust a “girl” online again. However, one day a girl online confesses to him, and it turns out she’s actually a beautiful girl named Ako Tamaki. Ako cannot tell the difference between the online world and reality, and she is a loner who has trouble communicating. Hideki and his friends from his guild decide to work together to “correct” her. (Source: Anime News Network )
Review: This show is a typical harem anime with cute girls, which I don’t mind at all. First of all, a main heroine, Ako is really charming. She’s loyal, beautiful, busty and a little bit jealous (and yandere) and I feel like she’s a girl that otakus would dream to date with! This story also evolves in the online game world, which seems like a trend since Sword Art Online, so many of you might find it interesting. Although I am enjoying this anime so much, the story is kind of typical and I don’t have much to say.
Sakamoto Desu Ga? / Haven’t You Heard? I’m Sakamoto
★★★★☆
Plot: Sakamoto, a gopher to his upperclassmen in middle school, is suddenly accepted as the coolest guy in high school, with everything he does thought of as art. (Source: Anime News Network )
Review: Sakamoto is a perfect high school boy that attracts everyone regardless of their gender or age. This original manga has been very popular so I was excited when they announced that Sakamoto Desu Ga? receives an anime adaption. Sakamoto is amazingly beautiful no matter what he does, for example, even when he eats lunch, is bullied by his classmates, or fights with a bee. I would like to call this anime ridiculous in a good way. Some people might feel like it’s a bit cheesy but if you enjoy the humor of the first 5 minutes of this show, then you’re sold. The voice actors are all big names including side characters. If you’re into voice actors, this show is heaven for you.
My final review for 2016 Spring Anime, Part.3 will be uploaded soon as well!
