After a successful run of its animated anthology series, Disney recently announced that a new set of shorts in the Star Wars Visions Anthology series. Announced at the Disney APAC Content Showcase, the new season will consist of 9 Japanese studios creating 9 new animated shorts. The Visions allows animation studios to create original stories in the world of Star Wars by adding their own creative spin on the franchise and mythology.
The studios are:
- David Productions (Fire Force, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure)
- Kamikaze Douga (PopTeamEpic, Ninja Batman)
- Anima (Sand Land, Altered Carbon: Resleeved)
- Kinema Citus (Revue Starlight, Made in Abyss)
- Polygon Pictures (Knights of Sidonia, AJIN)
- Production I.G. (Ghost in the Shell, Psycho Pass)
- Project Studio Q (Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time)
- Trigger (Kill La Kill, Cyberpunk: Edge Runners)
- WIT Studios (Attack on Titan, Ranking of Kings)
You can catch season one and two on Disney+ currently. My personal favorites are The Village Bride and Lop and Ochō. The new season is set to premiere in 2025.
