Yuya Tegoshi Terminates Contract with Johnny & Associates, NEWS to Continue as 3-Man Group

Johnny & Associates has announced the departure of Yuya Tegoshi from both NEWS and the company on June 19.

Last month, Tegoshi had gotten into a few scandals for disregarding the stay-at-home orders given in Tokyo by attending a drinking party with friends and repeatedly leaving his home for non essential reasons. Tegoshi had been suspended from all activities following this scandal, including his regular position in a popular television show, Sekai no Hate Made Itte Q.

Tegoshi is the 6th member to leave NEWS, with former members Tomohisa Yamashita and Ryo Nishikido parting ways with the group back in 2011. NEWS had been a four member group since then. Other well-known former members of NEWS include ONE OK ROCK vocalist, Taka, and actor Hiroki Uchi. Remaining members, Keiichiro Koyama, Takahisa Masuda and Shigeaki Kato are to continue activities as a 3-man group.

After departure, Tegoshi had created a personal twitter account and announced he will still be pursuing his career in entertainment.
